Hello, beautiful soul! This week, I have a wonderfully nostalgic treat to share with you! It’s a classic Granny Square blanket called Collocation, and I’m so excited to tell you all about it!

Collocation was designed by Emma Butram. When asked about her inspiration for this blanket, Emma said, “A collocation is an arrangement of words, ideas, or even images that brings out their meaning. This blanket features five rows of blocks with each row containing a pair of alternating blocks. The pairings showcase blocks that are similar in pattern, but one is more elaborate than the other to give a nice contrast, like seeing a pretty, red cardinal on an otherwise dreary, grey, winter morning.”

“Sometimes life is like this. You have your workaday hat to don, and then you come home and have other hats to wear. But somehow they all seem to work together. Even on days when things seem dull or mundane, you can still find something lovely in life or in nature that brings a smile to your face. The stitch patterns are based on 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton. I hope this blanket helps you find joy and beauty in the small things in life and keeps you warm wherever you go.”

This Intermediate level pattern is perfect for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/ concepts include basic crochet stitches, popcorn and cluster stitches, and working a seamed border.

Our lusciously soft Buttery Sport yarn is ideal for this blanket! Buttery Sport is squishy, bouncy, and buttery! What’s not to love about this super soft, lush, and cuddly sport-weight yarn that’s also machine washable? Made from 100% Superwash Superfine Merino Wool, this two-ply yarn produces fat, full stitches! No itchiness or scratchiness here! Use this fun, boingy yarn to make soft, supple projects that work up quickly. It is made with 100% Superwash Merino wool.

Our sample was made with our gorgeous Desert Sunset Hues Buttery Sport Kit [A) Blue, B) Green, C) Gold, D) Pink, E) Purple, and F) Gray (300 yds/274 m per skein; 1800 yds/1644 m per kit)].
