Hello, my sweet! I have two amazing treats for you today! First, I have a stunning, knitted mosaic shawl pattern that showcases two of our scrumptious yarn bases. The second treat is the return of our plant-based, Limited Edition Ephemeral Fingering yarn. Read on to learn all of the details!
Moissanite was designed by Patricia Liefeld. When asked about her design, Patricia said, “Wrap yourself in diamonds. The Moissanite (Moy-suh-nite) shawl uses mosaic and lace stitches to create beautiful diamonds. Reversing the colors adds additional interest to showcase your handiwork. The Sincere Sock yarn has just the right twist to make the mosaic stitches stand out and give definition to the lace stitches, and the Ephemeral Fingering yarn has a stunning sheen and drape. I hope this wrap will become one of your favorites.”
This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Mosaic knitting and reading charts.
Moissanite is shown here in two versions. Version #1 uses our Ephemeral Fingering yarn, which is a 100% plant-based blend of 69% soft Peruvian Pima Cotton and 31% Lyocell. Super soft, divine, draping, and sumptuous with a gorgeous gleam! The colors are so saturated and rich! Ephemeral Fingering also has a subtle, wavy texture that adds interest to your projects. It’s a fantastic option for all seasons with a whopping 548 yds/500 m per skein!
The Ephemeral Fingering sample shown here used approximately 979 yds/895 m total: Color A: 279 yds/255 m, Color B: 263 yds/240 m, Color C: 219 yds/200 m, and Color D: 219 yds/200 m. This version is shown in colors: A) Heidi, B) Emily, C) Layla, and D) Bailey. One skein of each color is needed.
This yarn base and this year’s colors are Limited Edition. Once they are sold out, they are gone for good, so be sure to purchase all you need for your project.
Version #2 features our Sincere Sock yarn and was made with our Saturday Hues Sincere Sock kit– A) Light Blue, B) Dark Blue, C) Green, and D) Ivory. Sincere Sock is a soft, sweet, and pleasant fingering weight yarn. This 3-ply blend gets its softness from Merino Wool and its strength from Nylon. The base takes the dye beautifully, which results in stunning, vibrant shades. Sincere Sock is a blend of 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon with 437 yds/400 m per squishy skein.
The Sincere Sock sample shown here used approximately 1166 yds/1066 m total: Color A: 320 yds/ 293 m, Color B: 320 yds/293 m, Color C: 263 yds/240 m, and Color D: 263 yds/240 m.
We filmed a video tutorial showing how to work the German Twisted Cast On, how to read the mosaic charts, and how to knit some of the mosaic rows. Take a look:
