Hello, my wonderful fiber friend! This week, I have a jewel-toned beauty of a pattern that I am over the moon to share with you. Keep reading to learn more about it!
Cabochon was designed by Megan Gonzalez. When asked about her debut design, Megan said, “A cabochon is a gem that’s polished, yet soft and rounded instead of sharply cut. The Cabochon wrap is awash in a shifting scale of jewel tones and boho-inspired bobbles, which look so much like the uncut gems this shawl is named for.”
This Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate level pattern is for those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills and stitches include increases, decreases, and bobble stitches.
Cabochon was made using our Alpaca Silk DK yarn. This yarn is soft and versatile and is made from 50% Alpaca and 50% Silk. Heavenly dreams are made of this stuff! Alpaca Silk DK is warm and soft with a gorgeous drape. This 4-ply yarn produces defined stitches and is wonderful for projects of all types! 210 m/230 yds per 3.5 oz/100 g skein.
The sample shown here used our Boho Dreamer Hues Alpaca Silk DK Kit [1050 m/1150 yds per kit]. Approximately 988 yds/903.5 m total were used for the sample shown.
We made a video demonstrating how to make a mini version and showing all of the stitches and stitch patterns. Take a look!
The pattern contains written and charted instructions.

I reside in Scottsdale AZ and rarely knit with DK yarn. The pattern calls for DK. Will this be too heavy? I realize the bobbles need to be on thicker yarn to make them look like a decent bobble. I am an experienced knitter and would need to adjust pattern. Please advise
