Hello, my twinkling star! As promised, this year we are going to be doing a yearlong Mystery Crochet Along blanket! Read on to learn more, and find out how you can join in on the fun!
Hearthside was designed by Jane Vanselous. She says, “I have long admired quilters and their dedication to their craft. The many hours required to choose just the right fabrics, hand cut the various pieces, assemble them precisely, and then work the countless, little stitches to finish it all off truly amazes me. What a testament of love for what they do, as well as for the lucky recipient of their art!
The design of this blanket is loosely based on a well-known quilt pattern. By breaking it down into 12 manageable sections, you will be able to create your own treasure. Use the warm color palette chosen for this Mystery CAL to invoke visions of curling up hearthside in front of a crackling fire with loved ones.
This pattern is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern and is for those crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations.

Hearthside is made with 12 skeins of our Enduring Worsted yarn. We will have two recommended color options each month – a cool color and a warm color. As a treat, we will also be dyeing these same colors onto our Luster Worsted base.
For January, the warm color is Leaves, and the cool color is Blue Goldstone. However, you can crochet your blanket with any colors you choose. Please note, swatching is important to ensure that your blanket edges are even and that you have enough yardage to complete your monthly section, as you should only need one skein per clue.
Every month, we will release a new clue for the pattern, so all you have to do is sign in and re-download the pattern each month once a new clue has been released.

I just got my yarn today, guess what I’ll be doing all weekend!! So excited!
I’m late to join, but would love to give this a go. I haven’t done a crochet along before… I’m relatively new to crochet (less than 2 years experience) but have fallen in love with it. I’ve been looking at the Enduring worsted colors and think ‘time traveler’ and ‘new York at night’ would look amazing together…but since I don’t know what’s coming next or what will be available, I’m not sure if I should deviate from the suggested colours…can you give me any insight or suggestions here? Thank you!
If you’d like to choose some of your own colors, just choose either all warm colors or all cool colors, and the colors in your finished piece will go together. You can also pop over to the MCAL Ravelry thread at https://www.ravelry.com/discuss/expression-fiber-arts/4179458/1-25 and scroll through the previous comments to see other people’s progress using various color combinations. I’m late tontge game, but I want to catch up and complete the first month. I’m confused… I want to do the cool colors and blue Goldstone is the recommended color. But it isn’t available until March? And how many hanks do I need to get? I’ve never done a group along like this… sounds fun
To make the entire blanket, you’ll need 12 skeins of our Enduring Worsted OR Luster Worsted yarn (or the equivalent yardage in another yarn of your choice). Each month (or each clue) will only require one skein of yarn, as long as you match the gauge listed in that section of the pattern. When we release each month’s recommended colors along with the new clue, the yarn will generally be listed as a preorder because we are dyeing the skeins based on demand. Since this is our first MCAL (and MKAL), we were unsure of how much interest there would be in the event, but as it is a yearlong Crochet Along, you’ll have plenty of time to finish each month’s clue. It is official that pattern reading is hard but the part two does not include the pattern for the corners part and reading the typed instructions is not working for me stuck on row 16 corners because when I try to turn my DCs don’t match the instructions …HELP!

I would really love to do this with the cool yarns on the list. Am I too late or are all the yarns still available? I can purchase 2 to 4 each month. Possibly more, to catch up. I just love the colors!!!
