Hello, my beautiful rainbow! I’m so excited because I want to share with you a beautiful crochet shawl pattern called Duha. This beautiful shawl was designed by Janica York Carter, and it goes along with the upcoming 21 day crochet challenge that we will be starting soon.

Read on to learn more!

Duha is the Czech word for rainbow. No matter the language, a rainbow remains a symbol of hope and renewal for people throughout the world. The Stormy Rainbow Hues Luster Sport Kit provides a sumptuous yet subtle palette to wrap yourself in the beauty and comfort of a misty rainbow.

This shawl has rows that are worked lengthwise in a combination of single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet stitches for the solid stripes; lace stripes intersperse chain stitches as well.

To refine the edges, try replacing a foundation chain and single crochet base with foundation single crochet stitches. Also, instead of starting double crochet rows with three chain stitches, which can leave a gap, use a no-turning-chain beginning double crochet stitch instead.

The sample shown used our Stormy Rainbow Hues on our Luster Sport yarn.

It used approximately 1,727 yards total: 291 (color A), 193 (color B), 283 (color C), 193 (color D), 283 (color E), 193 (color F), and 291 (color G).

We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how to work the pattern. Take a look:

This Beginner level pattern contains written instructions only.

To go along with this pattern, we will be hosting a 21- day Challenge over on Ravelry! This pattern can be made in 21 days, if you commit to working 4 rows a day. We’ll have lots of fun and some prize drawings along the way. Click HERE to read all about it and sign up!
