Hello, my fiber friends! Ready to learn how to change colors in your knitting? This is a technique we used in our gorgeous new knitting pattern called Sulam.
Check out the textures on this shawl! It is so fun to make too because the different patterns and cables keep your interest up as you go along.
Sulam is the Hebrew word for ladder, which seems fitting for a pattern that features a Jacob’s Ladder cable. The eight- row pattern repeat is easily memorized and is a great introduction for those new to making cables.
This shawl features the Cordolium Hues Kit in our Twisted Tweed Sport yarn.
Originally designed for three colors, this long, rectangular shawl can be worked in just one color for added simplicity, or add more colors for an even longer wrap. If you want to add colors but not length, simply work fewer pattern repeats between color changes.
Sulam uses 3 skeins of our Twisted Tweed Sport yarn found in our Cordolium Hues Kit.
The sample shown used approximately 1,015 yds (Color A: 360 yds, Color B: 295 yds, Color C: 360 yds) total.
We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how easy it is to change colors in this pattern. Take a look:
This Intermediate level pattern contains both written and charted instructions.
This shawl’s length and width are customizable, but will affect the yardage needed.
