Hey, lovelies!
We have a new pattern for you today! YEEE!
World Tour Sweater Blanket – Travel Wrap. A gorgeous knitted piece that functions both as a blanket (great for plane travel or road trips!) and/or a sweater / vest.
I got the idea for this one day while sitting in an airplane – it was freezing and I thought it would just be genius to have a blanket that when I needed to, I could toss on and actually wear through the airport. Yay!!
Designed for you by Emily Walton.
•Ideal for plane travel or road trips. Wear around the office even if you have crazy coworkers that crank up the AC. Wear as a beach coverup! Lots of options!
•This cozy travel blanket comes with a surprise: armholes! Now you can wrap up in your favorite blanket and still keep your hands free to get things done! Split textures keep this piece interesting and add a focal point at the sleeve split. You’ll never want to leave home without it, but you might have to fight the rest of the family to keep it!
•This blanket is knit width wise from the bottom edge to the top.
•A garter stitch border is worked simultaneously with the body of the blanket.
•Once the textured section at the bottom of the body is complete, the top part of the body will be worked in Stockinette in sections, with the remaining sts placed on hold until the armholes are complete, and then the held sts will be returned to the needles to complete the top part of the body and border.
•Width can easily be adjusted by casting on more or fewer sts in a multiple of 2. Length can be adjusted by working each section to your desired length before moving on to the next section. If adjusting the armhole size, keep track of the number of rows worked so you can work each section the same. Of course, you can also omit the armholes entirely and just make a fun blanket!
•If working with multiple skeins of the same hand-dyed color, I strongly recommend alternating skeins to avoid color pooling or an obvious stripe when switching skeins. Watch a video of this technique here.

Bye!! Talk to ya soon!
Chandi
Now I have to decide which to make first. Love Shawl? or World Tour?. I just may make both!
How do you pronounce CHANDI? Is it CHandi as in CHange or Candi. My daughter and I are great fans of yours, but not sure how to say your name. You’re doing a great job. Love your site.
Will go back to one of your awesome videos and try and catch your name.
Thanks,Barb
It is pronounced Shhhh (as in be quiet) + Andy 😊😊
I’m about to start the world tour for my daughter for Christmas. Awesome pattern. Thanks!
Oh. One more question and I’ll let you get back to what you do best.
Is fingering weight and sock weight the same? I see such variations in yarn weights, it’s hard to decide.
Not a problem! Fingering and sock can be the same weight though, not all fingering yarn is good for socks though. We have a video about fingering weight yarn that might be able to help explain it a little more clearly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-ednND09LY
I’m an absolute beginner, I have no experience or tools. My church makes shawls to give a member who has lost someone. I’m quarantined and really want to do this!! Is a way to order what I need by mail and watch a tutorial/interact with someone who can get me started. The idea is to put a prayer in each stitch. My own prayer shawl is crocheted and not “perfect” but I love it dearly. Any advise?
Margo, sure! We are happy to help with any questions you might have should you decide to purchase the pattern. The information for the yarn is included in the pattern description as well. Lovely idea you have!
