Hey, lovely!
Learn how to knit a beginner shawl pattern today.
1. We start with a garter tab cast on. So fun and simple.
2. Then the shawl is primarily worked in stockinette stitch.
3. Then if you like, you can finish with a garter stitch border.
Stripe it like shown or use up all those odds and ends of fingering weight yarn laying around the house!
Pattern is here.
Yarn is here.
.
Colors shown are 1 skein each of Granite, Nimbus, Reverie. Any colors will work, though.
I hope you enjoy the video! Hollah at me if you’d love a tutorial on how to style/wear a shawl like this and I’d be happy to do create one for you.
Soak up this beautiful day!

Thank you the video! It’s always super helpful to see a new technique demonstrated. The garter tab cast on looks neat!
Thank you for the pattern and the video. Been wanting to knit a shawl, but they all look so difficult and the garter stitch tab seemed like a secret handshake I wasn’t clued into. But you demystified it for me! Thank you; I feel ready to try this now. 😀
Thank you for your very clear and delightful instructions . I now would like to learn the continental method.
The yarns used in this simple shawl are gorgeous and make the shawl seem so very special!
That was a great video. Totally understand the concept now. I am trying to find out how to add the garter stitch border/ edging. It’s beautiful. Thank you again
you are welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi! Beautiful shawl, what are the dimensions?
Chandi, Could you do a video for us ‘newbies’ to shawl knitting (and newbies to knitting period!) and show how to manage this on circular needles when we start getting a zillion stitches on the needles?
That would be a good video. That could be something we could work on. : )
love all of your videos. you are so down to earth. when I open your emails I know it’s going to brighten my day. Thank you so very much for sharing your love of life with me. Please tell me which needles you are using. I love how nice and pointy they are. I need some new ones.
I use Chiagoo Circular Needles. They are by far my favorite needles to work with. Here is a link: https://amzn.to/2L5ZRH2
