My ideal getaway/dream vacation is two weeks in Maui.
I am using you, as I see no comment button. In all honesty my dream is a knitting/crochet cruise. I have read about them. The idea to be on open waters and learn new things from experts and feel welcomed by other knitters would be my treat.

Hi Chandi, My dream vacation would be to go spend a month or two in Italy. It is a DREAM considering my health and the fact that I have mobility issues. Italy with its numerous cobblestone streets and hills is an unlikely vacation for someone in a wheelchair. However, I do have a favorite getaway that I go to every summer. It is at Sunny Hill Resort on Bark lake in Ontario, Canada

The getaway I dream about lately has been a photography trip around Tuscany in Italy. My ideal getaway would be to have a glorious vacation in Key West or Mexico. Itβs not conducive to doing large crochet projects like afghans and sweaters, but imagine the colorful modal pieces inspired by the amazing colors! Mexico is a bit brighter but besides the rather obvious lime/turquoise/pumpkins, thereβs some duskier tones of early evening, dusty fuschias and deep deep royal blues and charcoal, with a tiny touch of bonfire , Key West is medium pastels with a little deep navy thrown in, and maybe a hint of neon.

I am in the process of getting nerve blocks in my back with the end result of ablating those same nerves! If my back pain can be decreased so I could walk with minimal pain, I think that I could do the trip to Ireland! Please say a prayer that this works and I will bring you some beautiful Aran wool!

Ditto! Specifically, I want to see all the great archaeological sites in Turkey (full access to explore all the underground cities of Anatolia to my heartβs content would never happen, but I can dream!), and continue my archaeology tour through Iran and Pakistan, finishing up in India.
Thatβs in a perfect world where Iβm not limited by health issues and dietary restrictions. As is, the most adventurous excursion I could do is Ireland, Scotland, and Isle of Mann, which would still be a great experience. Plus, the Orkneys have some great Bronze Age sites!

Being that I have ADHD this have really gotten my attention. I can sit and crochet for hours sometimes even days at a time. It also give me a chance to give back to my community by making hats and blankets for the NICU babies and the homeless people. I absolutely love yarn and it is a addiction. Top it off with a decent audio book and plenty of hot cocoa, maybe a sβmores break or two here and there and Iβm in heaven.

My dream vacation, and Iβm lucky in that my hubby and I do this every couple of years, is a trip to the British Isles. We cruise around the isles, visiting Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland (including the Orkney Islands) and then back to Southampton. Then we rent a car and stay in the Cotswolds. Day after day, we just drive every little road we come across, to see where it takes us. To tiny villages where we explore the local church and the churchyard cemetery. Usually petting the churchyard kitty. (Churches all seem to have knit, crocheted or embroidered kneeling cushions β some lovely artwork!) Sometimes we stop in the local pub β the best part of our visit is chatting with local people. One or two days we will take the train into London β of course stopping at Loop and I Knit London yarn shops. Visit a museum and take a double decker bus ride just to see where it takes us and then ride it back. Weβve done the sight seeing stops more than once and so just like to find little vignettes for me to stop and take a picture of β a doorway, a bit of window. Weβve happened to luck out and be in London on the celebration of VE Day with the parades and flags. We lucked out in being there for the Queenβs Diamond Jubilee. And we caught up in the excitement of the World Cup in England. Iβve been so lucky to have these experiences, and my dream is go again, as long as we are able to. We donβt do anything fancy. And I usually have lots of knitting time. Just England in the spring β with the lambs in the fields and miles of stone fences.

In the early 80βs, before terrorism was a household word, I was lucky enough to experience the beauty and history of countries such as Jordan and Iraq. I spent many days with families in refugee camps as well as exploring historical sites by camel with local Bedouins. My regret is that I was not allowed to go to Israel, more specifically, Bethlehem due to passport issues. My dream is to see the place of our Lordβs birth. Also to go to the Dead Sea again, awesome!

Belize! Specifically Hopkinsβa small fishing village in Southern Belize. We stayed at a resort there 2 years ago celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and it was the best week of our life. Life has taken some unpleasant turns since then, but the closeness we felt during that week has strengthened our marriage so that we are able to withstand the trials and tribulations that beset us now.

My dream vacation is the one that I was planning on taking as a newlywed, but will now be taking as a single woman. I will land in Rome and spend a week there, then go down to Vesuvius and Pompeii. From there I will take the train all over Italy and finally land in Venice. Three nights in Venice, and then I will rent a car and drive down the coast of Croatia, Albania, and Montenegro. After 18 1/2 years of traveling full-time all over the USA in a motorhome, working, for our business, we purchased a fixer-upper house, 800 yards from the water in Florida, and two years later I have a sewing room and a weaving room for my large looms plus the time to weave and knit as often as I can. That isβ¦ when we not kayaking around the Mosquito Lagoon, not too far from Cape Canaveral, or being out on the pontoon boat with my husband, drifting and fishing, thoroughly enjoying our βretirementβ (at 66). My husband is a writer and we are both living the life we have always dreamed of, together! Plus I am accumulating quite a stash of your beautiful yarns. So very pretty!

Such a hard decision- I have so MANY places I would like to go- but letβs just start with a road trip along Highway 101 along the California, Oregon, Washington coast. Slow paced with time to stop at all the beaches, antique stores, yarn stores, and museums. Add in beach front hotels with afternoon sunsets. Lovely.

I have always wanted to visit Morocco and Indonesia. I also have a beautiful little fantasy of escaping to some quiet unnamed beach with clear blue water over the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays- no feasts to prepare or clean up after, no presents, no annoying relatives, just peace. ahhhhhhh!
My ideal getaway/ vacation would be camping near a stream, husband fishing myself knitting. Clear weather just cool enough for a fingering weight sweater. Lovely pinks purples and teal yarn by my side either working on another sweater or even a lace shawl. No worries just lots of time to knitβ¦.a dream someday.
My dream vacation would be traveling our country and seeing all of our historic places especially in the deep South. Simply put β Alaska. Iβve been on an Alaskan cruise and completely fell in LOVE with the place. I love the mountains, the scenery, the water, the sound that the little ice chips floating in the water make as the boat pushes through them (they sound like wind chimes!
). I love the thought of seeing the Aurora Borealis β sadly didnβt see when I went before. I LOVE that itβs not hot thereβ¦we went in September and the locals told us that the 60 degree weather we were experiencing was pretty warm for them (I simply cannot express how much I love that! #Ihatebeinghot)
Other than Alaska, I would love more than anything to travel to Ireland and Scotland. My family comes from there, and Iβve never thought it possible to be homesick for a place Iβve never been. I WILL make it there one day.

My most wished for holiday would be to take this beautifully coloured yarn to of all places-my mothers nursing home.It was her love for wool that fired my interest as well.She would tell me as a very small child instead of buying lollies like all her sibling she bought pink wool.She loved this wool and probably would not have made anything that would suit an adult.Her mother took this wool from her telling her it was to good for her and proceeded to make her sister a jumper.She hurt all her life over this.Her favourite thing was a new ball of wool in her hands and the feel of it.She is very old now but i can imagine her expression holding this magnificent coloured wool that has pink in it.It would be worth any holiday around the world.
