Different Yarn Weights Explained for Beginners

Hello, beautiful soul! Welcome!

If you’re new to the yarn world, I know different yarn weights (thicknesses) can be confusing. We’re not talking about how much the yarn weighs on a scale; we’re talking about how thick the strand is. This is referred to as the yarn weight.

You can have various yarn weights – like lace weight, fingering weight, sport weight, dk weight, worsted weight, chunky weight, bulky weight, super bulky weight, etc.

In this video, I show you examples of those different weights and what that means for you when deciding on projects.

Have a watch:

I used to crochet doilies and tablecloths with lace weight. I now know how to knit. Does lace weight come in speckled colorways? I really would love to knit a lace weight speckled shawl for the warmer months here in Texas. Thank you Chandi for your tutorials. 😊
