Hello, beautiful soul! Welcome!
If you’re new to the yarn world, I know different yarn weights (thicknesses) can be confusing. We’re not talking about how much the yarn weighs on a scale; we’re talking about how thick the strand is. This is referred to as the yarn weight.
You can have various yarn weights – like lace weight, fingering weight, sport weight, dk weight, worsted weight, chunky weight, bulky weight, super bulky weight, etc.
In this video, I show you examples of those different weights and what that means for you when deciding on projects.

P.S. Here is even more information for you on this subject if you’re interested!
I used to crochet doilies and tablecloths with lace weight. I now know how to knit. Does lace weight come in speckled colorways? I really would love to knit a lace weight speckled shawl for the warmer months here in Texas. Thank you Chandi for your tutorials.
Chandi,
Thank you so much for this post as it is very helpful to know the different yarn weights when you are planning a project and purchasing yarns to create. I appreciate your dedication and love learning from you. Keep up the great work!
Great info!
Chandi,
You have been my go to since I started crocheting. Your videos are wonderful.
Thank you so much! Since I am a beginner I am absorbing everything and want to know everything!
Karen
Thank you for the updates. What I’d like to know always is how much I need for a crochet project. Your yarns are beautiful and I love working with them.
Great question. We should have a video explaining that in the near future! : )
Hi Chandi.
Do your lace weight yarns come in speckled colorways? Thank you.
We do have speckled color ways in Lace. : )
Love your yarn! My favorite music is new country
Thank you! What about Aran weight?
Such beautiful fibers. I would so much love to win! I’m a yarnaholic.
Thank you for the tutorials.
Great basic info. Thank you. I still consider myself a new-ish knitter (barely 3 yrs now). I have a toddler sock pattern, which calls for DK weight & of course since they’re for toddlers w/ a really busy mom (no time for handwashing & special care), it needs to be Super-wash. I’m wondering, too, if there’s much difference between Sport & DK for a project like socks or will have to size-up my needles or sock size (& watch my gauge, of course) to arrive at a smaller size?
You will probably will have to adjust. And, like you were saying, watch your gauge.
Hi. Just wondering the difference between resilient and sincere sock. Thanks
It is fiber content that makes up the difference. Resilient is 100% superwash merino wool and Sincere Sock is 75% superwash merino wool and 25% nylon. The Resilient is twisted a little more than the Sincere, so it is a little more bouncy. Hope this helps!
