Hello, my lil’ snickerdoodle! Today, I have a super fun, cute-as-a-button, knitted market bag that you can make with just a single skein of yarn! Keep reading to find out more about the Front Street Bag!

The Front Street Bag was designed by Monica Wesley. When asked about her design, Monica said, “Heading to the farmers market? Don’t forget to grab your Front Street Bag on your way out the door! Perfect for toting fresh fruits and veggies, homemade sweet treats, or whatever other goodies you discover at the local market, the cute and handy Front Street Bag will be your new, favorite, on-the-go tote.”

“The Front Street Bag uses just a single skein of Expression Fiber Arts Sincere Sock yarn, and the design is perfect for showing off the beautiful color shifts in a lively skein of variegated yarn. The bag is constructed from the bottom up and begins with a Magic Ring cast on. Alternating sections of garter stitch and stretchy, openwork stitches are worked in the round until you reach the handles. Then, you’ll cast on additional stitches to work the handles in the round, before separately binding off stitches underneath the handles. An optional single crochet edge adds a nice, clean finish to your bag.”

This Intermediate level pattern is for knitters who are comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Magic Ring cast on (or other center out cast-on method), knitting in the round, casting on stitches within project, and single crochet edging (optional).

The Front Street Bag is made with our Sincere Sock yarn, which is a delightfully soft, sweet, and pleasant fingering-weight yarn. This 3-ply blend gets its softness from Merino Wool and its strength from Nylon. The base takes the dye beautifully, which results in stunning, vibrant shades! Sincere Sock is a blend of 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon with 437 yds/400 m per skein.

The sample shown here was made with our Lavender and Light Sincere Sock yarn. The sample shown used approximately 375 yds/343 m total (includes single crochet edge).

The pattern includes written instructions only.
