Hello, my shining star! Today, I have a snuggly, shoulder-hugging, knitted shawl that features a truly unique and eye-catching shape. I just know you’re going to enjoy making this gorgeous design, so be sure to keep reading to learn all about this week’s new pattern!
Flightengale was designed by Cari Jehlik. When asked about the inspiration for this pattern, she said, “Take on a unique shawl shape with Flightengale. This is a simple, wedge-shaped shawl taken to the next level. You will start with the standard two wedges for a triangle shawl, and then you will add another wedge every 30 rows. This shawl is designed to hug and snuggle you at all times, circling your shoulders and staying on without assistance. The varying number of stitches provides interest and a delight of texture. Work this shawl in multiple colors or just one; it’s up to you! Or go beyond, and make it larger or smaller.”
This is an Intermediate level pattern and is perfect for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include increase and decrease stitches, color changes, charts, construction, bind off, and blocking techniques.
The Flightengale shawl is knitted with our Limited Edition All Good Things Fingering yarn. It’s an incredible choice for this show-stopping shawl because this yarn is silky soft and draping with a subtle shimmer and glow. All Good Things Fingering yarn is a blend of 75% Bamboo Viscose, 15% Fine Merino Wool, and 10% Lyocell with 437 yds/400 m per 100 g skein. This yarn is ideal for multi-seasonal use and for shawls and wraps, garments, hats, mittens, blankets, baby items, home decor, and more! Let these colors remind you that you are worthy of every good thing this life has to offer!
The sample shown here was knitted with one skein each of colors A) Kindness Matters, B) Grow Wild, and C) Love Your Future Self. Our sample used approximately 1142 yds/1046 m total: Color A: 400 yds/366 m, Color B: 393 yds/360 m, and Color C: 349 yds/320 m.
All Good Things Fingering is a Limited Edition yarn, so be sure to order all you need for your project. Once these colors are gone, they’re gone for good.
We made a video tutorial showing how to work the I-Cord Bind Off. Grab your needles and some yarn, and follow along with me!
