Hello, my sweet sunbeam! This week, I have a cozy, cuddly, knitted cardigan pattern that I know will be a wonderful addition to your Fall wardrobe! I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about this stunning pattern.
Infinitesimal was designed by Zara Powter. When asked about her debut design for Expression Fiber Arts, Zara said, “This design was inspired by the realization of how big the universe is and how small we are in comparison and the beauty found in everyone being together. Similarly in knitting, each stitch is tiny, but when looked at together, it creates a beautiful finished project.”
“Infinitesimal is an oversized cardigan with an engaging cable panel and optional fade pattern. The design is worked in the raglan style from the top down with shaping for the V neck. The body and sleeves are split and knit separately with lots of positive ease. Lastly, the neckline is knitted and sewn to the cardigan.”
This Intermediate to Advanced level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include raglan sleeves, cables, color changes, reading charts, and blocking. You will need to be able to read charts to knit this sweater.
Infinitesimal is made with our delightfully soft, single-ply Pearlescent Worsted yarn, which is shimmery, heavenly, and wildly popular! Our luscious, luxurious Pearlescent Worsted is a 50:50 blend of Superwash Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk. Smooth with a gorgeous gleam! When you combine these fibers into a single-ply yarn, you get subtle differences in tone, as the wool and silk take the dye differently. It’s a dreamy yarn that’s ideal for next-to-skin accessories like cowls, shawls, scarves, hats, and more! Unbelievably soft with a lovely drape and a shine that just won’t quit! Our iridescent, otherworldly Pearlescent Worsted yarn has 220 yds/201 m of scrumptious yardage in each skein.
The sample shown here was knitted with our Accismus Hues Pearlescent Worsted Kit. The pattern is offered in sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL) (4XL, 5XL), and you’ll need two four-skein Pearlescent Worsted kits. If you wish to make the body or sleeves longer, you will need additional yarn. The version shown here is a size S, modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust with 6” (15 cm) of positive ease.
We made a video tutorial showing how to knit the cables featured in this cardigan. Take a look!
This pattern includes written and charted instructions and a schematic. You will need to know how to read charts to knit this pattern.
