Hello, cutie patootie! Today, I have three amazing, coordinating crochet patterns to share with you, and all of them feature the same stunning stitch pattern. Crochet one, or crochet them all, and be sure to keep reading to learn about these beautiful designs.
Several years ago, I designed the cute-as-a-button Waves and Shells market bag, and I then recently had the brilliant thought that its fabulous stitch pattern would also make an amazing, flowing shawl and cuddly cowl. So, I designed the lovely Kincaid shawl and the Kymatistá cowl.
Kincaid is named after one of the most beautiful, sandy beaches in my home state of Alaska. Kincaid Beach is unlike most others in Alaska due to the fact that it is a sandy beach, instead of pebbled. The water is icy blue, and on a clear day, you can easily see mountains in the distance. The colors of this shawl brought many happy memories to mind. I hope that making this shawl – with its easy to memorize pattern – is relaxing and soothing for you, too!
This Adventurous Beginner level shawl is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include half double crochet, post stitches, and decrease stitches.
Kincaid is made with our scrumptious Pearlescent Fingering yarn, and the sample shown here was made with two skeins each of colors: A) November Blue Topaz, B) Fool’s Gold, and C) Chilled Pearlescent Fingering.
Kymatistá is the Greek word for “waves.” The Greek island of Mykonos is known for its iconic white buildings, golden sand, and azure blue waters. The Adventurous Beginner level Kymatistá cowl pattern is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches/skills include half double crochet, post stitches, and seaming.
Kymatistá is made with our scrumptious Pearlescent Worsted yarn, and the sample shown here was made with one skein each of A) Nautical, B) Sand Dune, and C) Whipped Cream Pearlescent Worsted.
Our luscious, luxurious Pearlescent Fingering and Pearlescent Worsted yarns are both a 50:50 blend of Superwash Merino Wool and Mulberry Silk. Smooth with a gorgeous gleam! When you combine these fibers into a single-ply yarn, you get subtle differences in tone, as the wool and silk take the dye differently. It’s a dreamy yarn that’s ideal for next-to-skin accessories like cowls, shawls, scarves, hats, and more! Unbelievably soft with a lovely drape and a shine that just won’t quit!
And finally, the pattern that started it all… The fun and handy Waves and Shells market bag is perfect for all of your on-the-go errands. This pattern resembles crashing waves, washed up seashells, and beautiful ocean-like colors. Imagine strolling along a quiet beach or boardwalk, the steady crushing of the waves rolling in and receding, seagulls puttering about on the sand and soaring overhead, a warm breeze on your skin, and you come across an adorable fruit and veggie stand. That’s how I’d like this bag to make you feel. Peaceful, relaxed, and ready to shop the farmer’s markets in style! The pattern will keep you entertained with its various rows, but is easily memorized because it’s created with just a six-row repeat. Enjoy!
