Hello, my sweet honey bee! Today, I have a gorgeous, knitted sweater to share with you, and it features fun, smocked details and is knitted with the perfect, warm-weather yarn! Keep reading to learn all about the Pregueado top!

Pregueado was designed by Debi Maige. When asked about this pattern, Debi said, “Pregueado is the Portuguese word for ‘smocking,’ and this fun tee has plenty of smocked details. They begin at the bottom hem and move up the side ‘seams’ of the body and sleeves and then around the armhole and neck. The garment is worked from the bottom up, in the round to the armholes and is then separated for the front and back, which are then worked flat to the shoulders.”

“The shoulders are joined with a three-needle bind off, and the sleeves are picked up around the armholes and worked down to the ribbing. This is the perfect spring or summer top with its easy fit, and you will be reaching for it all season long!”

This Intermediate level pattern is ideal for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include chart reading, decreasing, and garment sizing.Pregueado comes in sizes XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL) (4XL, 5XL), which correspond to finished bust measurements of 32 (36, 40, 44) (48, 54, 58) (62, 64)” / 80 (90, 100, 110) (120, 135, 145) (155, 160) cm. Our beautifully shimmering and soft Ephemeral Fingering yarn is an amazing choice for this scrumptious short-sleeved top. This yarn is 100% plant-based and supremely soft with a subtle, wavy texture that adds a dazzling sparkle and gorgeous structure to your projects. Divine, draping, and sumptuous with a gorgeous gleam! Ephemeral Fingering is a blend of 69% Peruvian Pima Cotton and 31% Lyocell. It is breathable, shimmery like silk, and sustainable!

This year’s Ephemeral Fingering colors are Limited Edition. Please order all you need for your project while they’re available.

The Pregueado sample shown here was made with color Sophia Ephemeral Fingering. Our sample is a size Small and is modeled on a 34” (86 cm) bust with 2” (5 cm) of ease.

The yarn is held double throughout the pattern. You’ll need the following amounts of yarn to knit Pregueado: 1000 (1500, 2000, 2500) (2500, 3000, 3000) (3500, 3500) yds / 915 (1372, 1830, 2286) (2286, 2743, 2743) (3200, 3200) meters. If you choose to use a yarn that meets gauge with just a single strand, you will need half of the yardage noted. If you wish to make the torso longer, you will need additional yardage.

We made a video tutorial showing how to work the Smock Stitch and Cable Cast On, which are featured in this pattern. Take a look!

The pattern contains written and charted instructions, as well as a schematic. You will need to be able to read a chart to knit this sweater.
