Hello, sweet soul! Today, I have a lovely brioche shawl pattern to share with you, and you can choose to knit either a two- or three-color version. Keep reading to learn all about it!

Rilie was designed by Marcela Chang. When asked about her debut pattern for Expression Fiber Arts, Marcela said, “Rilie means courageous and brave. Life often requires us to step out into the unknown and accept the challenges laid before us. The idea of this shawl is to encourage brioche beginners to make something a little more advanced than a typical shawl or cowl and to knit a brioche shawl.”

“The shawl is an asymmetrical triangle with increases only at one side. Rilie is worked in alternating stripes in both garter stitch and in brioche. It’s an easy sequence to follow and memorize and is sure to send your confidence soaring! Know that you are capable of so many amazing things in this world!”

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Concepts include brioche knitting and I-cord bind off.

Rilie is shown here in two versions, and they were both knitted with our lusciously luxurious Mirage Sport yarn, which is a sumptuous yarn that’s wonderfully soft with gorgeous drape, amazing structure, and a subtle gleam. This heavenly, 3-ply yarn is ideal for heirloom blankets and shawls, hats, scarves, sweaters, and much more. A dream to work with and wear! Mirage Sport is a blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Natural Baby Camel, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Mulberry Silk with 350 yds/320 m per skein.

The two-color version of Rilie was knitted with two skeins of Mirage Sport yarn and is shown here in Oatmilk and Hint of Mint Mirage Sport.

The three-color version of Rilie was knitted with three skeins of Mirage Sport yarn and is shown here in Oatmilk, Hint of Mint, and Still of the Night Mirage Sport.

We filmed a video tutorial demonstrating how to knit the two-color version of this shawl. Take a look!
