Hello, my sweet buttercup! This week, I have a beautiful, beginner friendly, crochet cardigan pattern to share with you. The Marine cardigan is the perfect, year-round layering piece, and I hope you’ll keep reading to learn more about it.
Marine was designed by Elisabeth Carr. When asked about this pattern, Elisabeth said, “This pattern is called Marine because the colors remind me of the depths of the ocean. Growing up close to the beach, the ocean has always fascinated me, and I have a tendency to gravitate toward colors that remind me of it. I wanted this cardigan to be a quick and easy piece for a beginner who wants to learn how to make a garment. This is achieved through easy stitchwork and loose tension. Even though a worsted weight yarn is used, the loose tension creates a light and airy cardigan that reminds me of netting and ties into the marine theme.”
This Adventurous Beginner level pattern is for crocheters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include single crochet, single crochet in the front loop, double crochet, and double crochet two stitches together.
Marine was crocheted with our Luster Worsted yarn, which is a soft, strong, wonderful worsted weight yarn. A gorgeous sheen from the Lyocell adds to the appeal! Everyone who sees and feels this yarn base loves it and exclaims how beautiful it is! Shimmering and soft and ideal for sweaters, blankets, accessories, and more. This yarn is made from a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell with 200 yds/183 m per 4 oz/113 g skein.
The sample shown here was crocheted with color Country Village Luster Worsted and is a size Small modeled on a 34″ (86 cm) bust with 2″ (5 cm) of positive ease. The pattern is offered in sizes XS – 3XL, and you’ll need four to nine skeins, depending on the size you select.
We made a video showing how to work a few of the stitches featured in this pattern. Take a look!
The pattern contains written instructions, charts, and a schematic.

As a Pisces, I am in love with this cardigan and color scheme! So beautiful 😍
What I love about the ocean is the sound and the feel. The beach is calm and soothing and rejuvenating. A coming back to one’s self, while sailing the current is pure joy, a little fear, and total respect for her power. Exhilarating and humbling all at the same time because she speeds you along, and the farther you get from shore the smaller you know you are in the scheme of the universe. She is a vast, powerful, and timeless force, and just being next to her or riding her waves, I feel I inherit a little of that vast power as she make time stand still in my soul. I love this week’s project and thank you for the a chance to win. I hope I’m posting this in the right place. 😂

Hi Shannon,
I’m sorry you’re having trouble with the instructions. Unfortunately, we don’t have a tutorial covering that section of the pattern. I’m happy to help however, as much as possible. What exactly is the issue in this row? Is it where to place the markers or something else?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Have a nice day! – Johanna 💕
