Hello, my twinkling star! I have a lovely textured shawl for you this week. This pattern is the sister shawl to our crocheted Verano shawl, and I hope you’ll read on to learn more about it!

Brontë was designed by Elizabeth Myers. When asked about her design, Elizabeth said, “Abiding love is mysterious and glorious! The Brontë sisters’ writings give us, the reader, the ability to delve into deep and meaningful lasting love. Their stories open the reader to what it means to love deeply, to abide, to continue, to remain, to survive, to last, to persist and stay, and to keep those that you love close and never lose faith in the possibility to find that kind of love. There is no pretense in their stories of longed for love. Like a warm and cozy blanket, so too will this shawl evoke and elicit the feeling of being wrapped in deep and abiding love.”

Brontë is shown here in two different versions. The four-color version uses our Luster Sport yarn. The two-color version features our Mirage Sport yarn. Both Luster Sport and Mirage Sport have lovely drape and are perfect for helping you create gorgeous, flowing shawls.

Luster Sport is a blend of 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell, which is a plant fiber. Mirage Sport is a blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Natural Baby Camel, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Mulberry Silk.

The four-color sample shawl was made with our Beach Vibes Hues Luster Sport kit. This sample used approximately 800 yards (732 m) total, and approximately 200 yards (183 m) were used per color.

The two-color version is shown in Milky Way Galaxy Mirage Sport and Nestled Mirage Sport. The two-color version used all of both skeins (700 yards/640 m total), so gauge is very important for this version.

This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with knitting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include Mosaic knit stitch, Moss stitch, knit front and back, and Picot bind off.

We made a video showing how to knit a mini version of this shawl. Take a look!
