Hello, my lil’ pumpkin! This week, I have a lovely treat to share with you. It is a crochet cardigan with pockets called Caitri, and I hope you’ll read on to learn more about it!
Caitri was designed by Michelle Ferguson. When asked about her design, Michelle said, “This oversized cardigan is called Caitri. Caitri (KAY-TREE) is the name of a dear cousin of mine and is short for Caitriona. Caitriona has Gaelic background and means ‘pure.’ The definition of pure is ‘without any extraneous and unnecessary elements.’”
“The herringbone stitch adds just a bit of fun to the design and helps keep you interested as you crochet. The front pockets help ensure that Caitri easily becomes the cardigan you want to wrap yourself up in all the time. Simple, pure, and perfectly cozy!”This Intermediate level pattern is for those who feel comfortable with crocheting and have made a few projects, using various skills and techniques. Skills/concepts include the herringbone stitch, garment shaping, and construction. The pattern contains written instructions only.
Our Luster Sport yarn is a great choice for this cardigan. This yarn is so soft and has beautiful drape. It is ideal for virtually any type of garment or accessory, as well as blankets, baby items, and home decor, and it is made with 50% Superwash Merino Wool and 50% Lyocell, a plant fiber.
Caitri is offered in sizes XS-5X. The pattern calls for 5-9 skeins of our Luster Sport yarn. The yardage required is based on your hip circumference, and Caitri is designed to be worn with 4-5″ (10-12.5 cm) of positive ease.
The sample shown here is a size Small and is modeled on 36″ hips. This sample used 6 skeins and is shown in our January Garnet colorway.
We made a video showing you some spectacular sweaters that you can crochet right now!

Wow! Each one is beautiful, I think I need to start working on my colorwork skills so I can eventually make Dreamscape. Absolutely gorgeous!
I have a question about the two front panels. How does the stitch count go from 68 to 100 (4x) with no increases in the pattern?
Hi Tracy, thank you for your message. I’m happy to help.
The numbers before the colon are not stitch counts but row numbers, so the 100 just indicates that you should be in Row 100.
I hope that makes sense and answers your question.
Have a lovely week. – Johanna 💕
Beautiful patterns!! I just received my yarn from you yesterday. Soft and squishy just like you said. I have several projects going and hope finish quickly that I might start a new project with your yarn. Have a great day!
