Hey, lovely! It’s a beautiful day for a free crochet pattern, don’t you think?
Our amazing Boho triangle crochet shawl pattern is super easy! Beginner level!
It’s absolutely wonderful for using up all those tidbits of fingering weight yarn you may have laying around. And since you hold the yarn double throughout the project, you can finish this in a weekend.
If you’d like to follow along with our full tutorial, get your hook ready and let’s go!
This is a wonderful pattern for all types of yarns. Solids are great, speckled yarns would be super fun. You could even do stripes!
You’ll also find this pattern incredibly easy to memorize. It consists of just a few rows that you repeat over and over so it’s ideal to work on while watching tv, listening to audiobooks or chatting with friends.
We truly hope you love it. You can download this free pattern here.
Be sure to post your version on all the socials so we can see! @expressionfiberarts
Have a delightful day and know, you are capable of amazing things! Talk to you soon.

Hi Chandi I love this website and watching your videos!! Your energy brings me joy!! I am working on the Crochet Boho shawl with Devoted Dewy DK yarn,,,, when I look at the pictures of this project compared to my work,,, my work looks too smal,l too tight,,,, I used DK weight but only used an H crochet hook (which is the largest recommended on the label),,,, The pattern states you did 19 rows but used a size K hook,,,, I’ve done 19 but not sure if this is enough,,,, Does the blocking make a big difference on size of the finished project or should I go back and remake it using the bigger crochet hook?? Help =)
Karen, did you get the same gauge as in the pattern? Blocking can help but you might need to use the larger hook as recommended. Thanks!
Thank you Chandi!! I made a small sample using treble crochet then “test blocked” it,,,, I decided to add 2 more rows,,,, I’ll be blocking the finished shawl tomorrow =) I’ve never used such luxurious yarn. I’ll be looking forward to the Fall & Winter this year to wear this beautiful shawl. Thank you again.
Wonderful! I hope you have the most lovely of days!
You’re AMAZING!
LOVE your beautiful, giving spirit.
You are an excellent teacher & cheerleader.
Many, many blessings to you in exchange for all the joy you bring to us, your yarn-geek followers.
You’re just — the BEST!
I love this design. Even though it’s beginners friendly and I’ve been crocheting for over 50 years. I love the boho look. I plan on using the pattern for a 1970s boho looking poncho. I wish I could find the scheme chart. It makes it go much faster.
Hi lovely,
Is it possible to make this using 3ply yarn? If so what size hook do you recommend?
This is only my 2nd ever project, I literally started crocheting on the 8th February. I have to say thank you to you as it’s your fantastic teaching and reassurance that it is possible for anyone to learn, so Thank You xxxx
Angie, sure thing. I’d play around with various hook sizes until you get a swatch you like. It will really depend on your specific yarn. Thanks!
Hi Chandi,
I’m a beginner and I was wondering if I will have enough yarn to do the fringe or should I have ordered more? I’m doing the crochet Boho Shawl and I love how it is turning out but I’m fearful I won’t have enough for the fringe. Please let me know if I should order more. Thanks.
Tammie, I would love to help. We used 800 yards for the pattern (including fringe). How much yarn did you order? <3
Thanks, I ordered 800yds. When you do the fringe do you do every other one or everyone. Thank you for responding so quickly I love your tutorials.
Thank you! We did every other one, but if you like a lot of fringe you can certainly do every one. 💕
I made this in that color and I absolutely love it! Thank you so much!
HELLO!! could I hire you to make me one in black???
Hello everyone,
I struggle with total beginning. I saw video, I read the pattern I do all well but My top line is not straight but in angle even after first six rows!
It is big angle that blocking can not repair. Is it in middle-chain parts? Should I make them longer? I am not crochet newbie but this really devastates me. 🙂
Please write us here: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/ and we would be happy to help. Thanks! ☺️
I had this same issue, not sure what I did wrong, but my second attempt worked better.
I noticed other ladies are struggling with this boho shawl pattern, along with me. I’ve always thought the treble crochet stitch is a bit difficult compared to the single and double crochet stitches. I don’t think it’s a beginning rated pattern. More like intermediate.
I truly love the look it has and I still want to wholeheartedly learn this boho triangle pattern.
I need to to try again without any interruptions.
I agree.
I’m struggling also and I love this boho triangle shawl!!!
Will try again.
HELLO! Is there anybody who can make this shawl for me in black?
we can agree on a price. let me know!!!
I just finished this project in the Sonder color way. It is gorgeous.. Thank you for sharing this pattern.
I would like to have the pattern of boho
You can download it for free from our website: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/boho.html and read more about our download process at https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/faqs/
Chandi,
I have fallen in love with your Boho Triangle Shawl in navy blue, you have modeled on your website.
I thought how great this wonderful shawl is rated easy beginners to learn the pattern!!!😃. Low and behold,
I just spent several hours trying to crochet it and I cannot
Understand it at all. When you said it was all repetitive and a beginner should be fine learning it, I was so happy and excited!!! Not any more. I have crocheted many things, but I do not understand this pattern.
Deeply disappointed.
Hi Susan, thank you for your message. I’m very sorry that you’re struggling with the Boho pattern. I’ll try my best to help you with that. Could you be more specific with what you’re struggling with?
We do offer 2 tutorials for this pattern, one on how to work the 4-row repeat (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NY2ew-ca5Q) and one on how to apply the fringe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCjktLG58fI). Not sure if you already watched these videos but they might help you continue with your project.
Please, let me know if you have any other questions. Have a wonderful week! 💕 Johanna
Do you have a similar and easier triangle shawl with fringe? This Boho triangle shawl is too busy for me to to crochet. Do you recommend anything easier and much simpler to crochet, but still offers the glamorous flowing look???
Hi Susan, have you looked through our crocheted patterns on our website?
We do have more triangle shawl but unfortunately only one more with a fringe Villiers (https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/villiers.html).
Here are all of our crocheted shawls if you would like to take a look at them: https://www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/patterns.html?_bc_fsnf=1&Craft=Crochet&Project+Type=Shawls%2FWraps&sort=newest&page=1
Have a nice day! 💕
I cannot wait to start on this shawl. I especially love the long fringe and open pattern. Thank you for offering the pattern for free. I look forward to seeing your videos.
