Della Shawl – Knitted Pattern

Hey, my gorgeous friend! Today, I have a beautiful, crescent shaped, knit shawl pattern to tell you all about! I love the Della pattern because you can use all those wild and crazy sock yarns that you have laying around. The design is simple enough to handle variegated, speckled, or tonal shades. I can’t wait to see your version!

Della was designed by Emily Walton. When asked about this design, Emily said, “A crescent shawl worked in two directions, Della’s stitch patterns are easily memorized without being too boring. Elegant enough to be worn to a fancy dinner party, yet casual enough to pair with jeans, Della is a versatile piece that will quickly become your new wardrobe staple.”

The Della shawl is an Adventurous Beginner level pattern and is for those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Skills include increase and decrease stitches, special stitches, and blocking techniques. The pattern includes written instructions only.

The updated version of Della was made with our Limited Edition Confident Fingering yarn. When our mill spins up luxury yarns, there are often leftover fibers. We asked them to gather their woolen tidbits and spin them into this upcycled yarn base, so nothing goes to waste! This 100% Superwash Wool yarn includes a mix of various types of wool. Confident Fingering is a lightweight, 3-ply, fingering-weight yarn that is supremely soft and draping and is wonderful for shawls, scarves, cowls, sweaters, gloves and mittens, hats, and more! 420 yds/384 m per 3.5 oz/100 gram skein

Our updated version of Della was made with color Always Whole Confident Fingering, and used approximately 828 yds (757 m) total.

The original version of Della was made with our scrumptious Resilient Sock yarn and is shown here in color Vintage Charm. Resilient Sock is our signature sock yarn and is made from 100% Superwash Merino Wool. It’s a customer favorite because it’s both super soft and machine washable. Resilient Sock is a 4-ply yarn, which results in round, beautifully defined stitches and long-wearing finished projects. Boingy and elastic with a high twist and 400 yds/366 m per skein.

The original sample shown here used 900 yds/823 m total of Resilient Sock yarn (3 skeins).
