Hello, my lovely fiber friends! This week I want to share with you a new spin on an old favorite. We have recently updated our Kocho pattern, and I can’t wait for you to see it!

This versatile piece is begging to be your new multi-seasonal accessory! Just like a caterpillar changes to a butterfly, so does this pattern change. The wrap starts out as one color, and then transforms into another as you knit along through the alternating lace sections. Just as butterflies are known for their bold colors, the alternating lace sections are great for bold color blocks, but you can also stick with one color if you prefer. Let this shawl remind you that even if you’re in a dark place, perhaps you’re just in a cocoon and will emerge brighter, more beautiful and stronger than before!

Wear it as a wrap, a stole or a scarf; it’s up to you. Customize this pattern to your heart’s content to make something you’ll love that’s totally you!

This old favorite pattern has been fully updated and re-written. Charts and a tutorial have been added for clarity to make this pattern easier to work than ever before.

The sample shown used 1 skein each of Playa and Water’s Edge Oasis Camel Silk fingering yarn. This yarn has 500 yards (457 meters) per 3.5 oz (100 gram) skein.
The sample shawl used approximately 770 yards total.

We have filmed a video tutorial for you showing you how easy it is to work this pattern. Take a look:

This Adventurous Beginner level pattern contains both written and charted instructions.

This shawl’s length and width are customizable, but will affect the yardage needed.
