I couldn’t BREATHE. I stared with eyes wide and mouth agape; half smiling, half in disbelief.

I’ve flown over these mountains dozens of times. I was born and raised in Alaska (living mostly in Juneau where the only means of escape is via plane or boat) so you would think I’d be totally used to the Alaskan mountains by now.

But apparently not.

I flew down to Anchorage last weekend for some rest and recouping (*Ahem, read: Shopping and eating too much).

On my way back, this was my view.

The pilot swung around so we could see the gorgeous Mt. McKinley. HELLO! Stunning.

I seriously stared out the window like a goon the whole time.

The weird thing about this trip, though, was I didn’t take any yarn with me. Weird, I know!! I ALWAYS have knitting or crocheting with me on trips, as it makes the time fly by on planes. Pun totally intended.

But I wanted to see how I’d respond without my usual constant yarn companion.

I have to say…

I did okay! I started reading The Tapping Solution by Nick Ortner (AMAZING and LIFE-CHANGING! I even thought about buying a copy to include in one of my giveaways for you… that is how amazing it is. You should definitely check it out if you have anything in your life you’re unhappy with (don’t we all?) ).

So anyways, back to not breathing.

I was stunned and awed. It seriously amazes me to be ABOVE the clouds. Blows my mind every time.

I bet you know where this is headed, huh?

Whenever I see anything beyond gorgeous I have to turn it into yarn.

Sooooo…. using my new huge 32 quart pots, YAY!, I dyed up this new colorway for you, on 2 different yarn bases: Sock weight and Worsted weight, both superwash merino wool. Hurray!

And guess what it’s called? Yup. ABOVE THE CLOUDS.

And here it is on the worsted weight…you can see each skein is a wee bit different:

ALSO, I’ve been listing SCADS
of new colors on the site and they are selling out FAST. Good heavens. So take a peek around the site if you like and if there is anything you fancy, you’ve got to grab it fast.

In other news, I’m headed on a longer vacation to Portland/Seattle for a friend’s wedding and to do more shopping and eating. SOOO! VERY IMPORTANT! No orders will be shipping from August 8th at noon Alaska time until August 20th. We’ll then start getting your orders shipped out in the order they were received, so please allow a few extra days. Things usually get reaaally backed up after a trip.

SO PLEASE ORDER BY WEDNESDAY THE 7TH TO ENSURE YOUR ITEMS WILL SHIP BEFORE WE LEAVE.

And while I’m blabbing, I’ve been knitting a sweater. If you like my Facebook page, you’ve probably seen the updates, but here is what I’ve got so far:

Pattern: Simplest Sweater on Ravelry

Mods: I’m doing 1×1 ribbing at the bottom.

Yarn: My superwash merino wool in worsted. Colorway is currently not available. I might try to dye some up after my trip, but for now, the ABOVE THE CLOUDS shade is the closest I have. It will take about 3 skeins for this size (34).

Well, enjoy your day! I’ll keep you posted about my trip and sweater progress and the project I start next (hopefully today if time permits!)

Oh, yeah and we’re headed to the fair today. YEESH! What a ton of info I’ve dumped on you.

XOXOXO

Until next time when I blab your head off again…
