Steps one and two are done :)

I think this would be lovely to make chemo caps, and some would go to my mother, who makes mittens for the church to give away to those in need. I might keep one for myself, too :)

Sally June 6, 2013 at 3:09 pm

The first thing I would do is put it where I could look at it every day. Then I would decide what gifts I am going to make with it. Christmas is just over 6 months away and this year everyone in my family will get a knitted gift. Yippee!!

I am really working hard to learn new techniques like some lace patterns without compromising the relaxing aspect of knitting. I would probably spend a day or so just getting to know them. Then I would sort by color strengths. After that, one or more will “move to the front” and I will work on them from there. I have several places I would like to see my work go.

Thanks,
Kathryn

Purple and pinks? Oh that screams a shawl for my mom who just retired from a domestic violence shelter as a victim’s advocate and another for my brother-in-law’s wife who lost her mom to breast cancer a few months ago.

Reply

Melodee June 4, 2013 at 9:59 pm

I love your yarn! If you have a random hank of Lavendar Sage laying around, please let me know. I got two hanks, made a scarf, a hat and hat some left over. For some reason known only to the crochet muse, I started a project I knew I wouldn’t have enough yarn to finish, but I had to do that pattern.

If you don’t have (and I’m not holding my breath) do you have anything that might match/blend/go with in an attractive way that you would recommend. It’s for the bottom rows of a shawl.

I love your yarn!

So much faster and easier on hands and shoulders. You are just the best.

What will I do if I win? I’ll try learning something new by trying a knitting pattern I’ve never done before……I’ve never really done much knitting, usually I crochet, but I’ve developed “extreme, severe, degenerative arthritis (my doctor’s words)” at the base of my left thumb and it’s extremely painful to crochet now. I took a knitting class at the Parks & Recreation last fall to brush up on what little I knew and knitting doesn’t seem to hurt my hand as much. The colors look so scrumpcious that it looks like you could take a spoon and dig in!

Reply

Teresa June 5, 2013 at 2:38 am

I’d make gloves, scarfs or something fun.

Steps one and two are done!

I’m currently deployed to Afghanistan, so i would use the yarn in one of our group projects – we are yarn bombing Kandahar Air Field to bring some beauty to such a gray and brown place. Everything is the same color, so right now i’m working on a very colorful bicycle “cover” to leave chained somewhere when we leave, so the beauty of knitting can be passed on. If it makes someone smile when they see it, then i think it will be worth it.

Hiya! I’ve found this competition from a friend who posted it.. So Kudos to Katrina! <3

I've shared on Facebook and I've subscribed – so if I don't win the yarn, I still win because I get to find out about your yarns!

So what would I do with the yarns? Honestly? I've just started knitting, I know two stitches – knit and pearl, and combined makes a lovely scarf. I knit (or try to!) on the train, tube and DLR on the way to/home from work, and I don't know how to do anything fancy like making hats, or gloves, or pretty shawls. But I'd love the chance to make scarves.
Thank you :)

I haven’t tried a cowl or shawl yet so I think I’ll make one of those for my mom for her birthday or Christmas… those are all of the colors she loves and wears. I think I’ll try my hand at adding beads too… another thing I haven’t tried yet. They are all so pretty I want to make something for myself so maybe there’s enuff for two. :D

What would I do with it? Well, purple is my absolutely most favourite colour in the world, so I’d likely make something fabulous for myself (maybe that cowl I’ve been pondering?) The pinks would become purses for my friends, and the roving would become spiffy double ended dreads for myself, my kids, and my friends!

hmm… what would I do with a box of yarn? First? I’d probably drool, then I’d probably brag to all my friends on FB, before finding a pattern to make something just for me! (did I mention, I did #1 & #2?)

Reply

Anne Schultz June 6, 2013 at 6:57 am

I have been meaning to do some felting – some brooches I think, so that’s where the roving would go. As far as the yarn goes, I always need to feel it before I know what to do with it – that always tells me what I want to do with yarn. But I did download some patterns to knit little stuffed animals lately so that would probably be the first choice for anything that is soft but strong enough to wear well. And I love animals in odd colours like pink and purple!

Reply

Michelle June 6, 2013 at 7:24 am

Steps 1 and 2 done!

Now, 3: One of my very best friends is having her head shaved soon because she doesn’t want her hair falling out when she starts chemo in 2 weeks. She’s really nervous about going outside with no hair and our attempts at wig shopping haven’t been a success. I’m making her a whole set of brightly coloured headscarves to match her bubbly personality and hopefully cheer her up if she starts feeling down and our ice-cream-and-movie nights don’t do the trick!! Your yarn would simply go towards making more of them so she can choose from a larger range of scarves each day!

Reply

Jane June 7, 2013 at 3:59 pm

My first thought was a sunhat, probably because that is what I am working on right now as its sooo hard to find interesting colourful ones, and the yarn is so pretty.

But then I thought that living in the UK, that may be a bad idea, as I probably wouldn’t get to wear it as much as I might like and enjoy the lovely yarn, so I think I would settle for a loveley shawlette…I have tons of patterns for them stashed and love tonal work so think this yarn bundle would be fab for that, and I could wear that every day if I wanted to, especially with so many colours…would go with everything! :D

Oh yes, and I shared and tweeted xD

Purple and pink are my favorite colors! I make lots of things for others — prayer shawls for church, hats for school kids and for a missionary, sweaters for all the babies that I’ve been knitting for since they were born. Adding to my stash just helps me continue that tradition. Or, I might make something for me.

Step 1? Check! Step 2? Check! Step 3? Here we go: Last winter I tried to teach myself how to crochet, figuring it must be in my blood, as my grandmother used to always make little dresses and cardigans for me (and matching ones for my dolls). There is nothing quite like sitting curled up on the sofa, all cosy and warm on a dark winter’s evening, taking time out and working away on a project. *=”)

I have completed the steps. Lately I haven’t had the money to buy yarn. I have been wanting to make hats for the Yarn Store at Nob Hill’s ‘Hats for the Homeless’ collection they have. People knit all sorts of things, but for a quick gift, a hat is the best thing to make. If that doesn’t work, I plan of making hats for New Mexico’s Cuidando Los Ninos group that educates and provides services for homeless families. Thank you for the opportunity! Good luck ladies and (possible) gentlemen.
