My latest spinning project is under way!

I began with this gorgeous roving I purchased a while back from Fat Cat Knits (she has gorgeous rovings!):

Color: Buster
Roving: Falkland
Spun using the short-draw method (I normally use long-draw, but wanted to see if this method created a smoother yarn. It did somewhat, but I didn’t stress over getting it perfectly even.

I divided the roving in half lengthwise and wound into 2 “even” balls:

I spun each into a fingering-weight single:

The 2 almost identical bobbins:

I then plied them together to form a yarn that’s about a worsted-weight. It was so fun to watch and see when the colors lined up and when they shifted. (You’ll notice I painted my nails! I got a gel nail system for Christmas and it’s amazing! It takes me about an hour to do my own nails and about 30 minutes to do someone else’s. In total, I have 6 Gelish polish colors from Amazon, a UV lamp for curing each layer and the Gelish starter kit. You apply about 5 layers, curing each layer. It lasts for weeks without chipping or coming off. Glorious! And no dry time. You use a UV lamp, so once you’re done, you’re done and the polish is set! I’m SOLD!!)

Here is the finished 2-ply yarn on the bobbin. You can see the colors sort of matched up occasionally, but shifted in some places. I love it!

And the yarn wound into a cake, ready to be knit into something gorgeous:

I’ll be making a luscious knitted scarf with this and will post the pictures and pattern soon!

Peace and Light!
