Super Simple Beaded Fingerless Mitts

Yarn: My own hand-spun Corriedale wool. I ran the fleece through my drum carder to smooth it out and blend the colors into the gradation I wanted. I then spun it on my spinning wheel to create a lumpy-bumpy worsted weight yarn.

When I finished…I thought to myself… “These need something more.”

I thought about adding trim. I pulled out some purple ribbon and played around with it. I wasn’t feeling it. And then I saw these glorious purplish-greenish beads and knew I had to do something with them!

So I used regular black thread (Yes, the same stuff I used on my Mulberry Hat trim!) and sewed the beads on in a random, sort-of-flower fashion.

(To apply the beads, just run your needle in the manner shown… this way you create a double thread through each set of beads, making them more secure).

And…I LOVE IT!

I can GUARANTEE I’ll be wearing the tail off of these! I wore them today and they are perfect. They fit me like a…glove? HA !! And the beads are dazzling. The wool is warm. The colors are vibrant and cheery.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how I got the colors to sort of match, I don’t know. 🙂 It just turned out that way!!

I was originally hoping that they wouldn’t match. To make them funkier. But now that I have added the beads, I think it looks classier to have the colors semi-matching up from mitten to mitten. The lime green really shows off the gorgeous purple beads.

My thoughts for today:

“It’s so important to do what you love. Whether knitting, crocheting, reading, sewing, cooking, dancing, singing, writing, or anything else…Do what you love. It’s your soul expressing itself. That love is in you for a reason. And it begs to be revealed. What you love…loves you!”
